Deadiverse is a fan-built home for people who love the Grateful Dead, the musicians who have been part of its story, and the music that continues to grow around it. The profiles, comments, contributions, show histories, and conversations here exist so we can share knowledge, celebrate performances, and connect with other fans.
Deadiverse is independent and is not affiliated with or officially operated by the Grateful Dead or its members. By creating an account and participating in the community, you’re helping build a shared archive of this music and its history.
What Membership Is For
Joining Deadiverse isn’t just about having a login. Your account gives you a way to make the archive your own and help make it better for everyone.
- Save favorite songs, musicians, bands, shows, and other content
- Keep track of shows you’ve attended
- See personalized concert and collection statistics
- Comment on shows and other content
- Contribute setlists, notes, photos, recordings, and other information
- Add song annotations and historical context
- Help identify and correct inaccurate information
- Share your own experiences and memories of the music
Use these features in the same spirit as the rest of the community: be honest, be helpful, and don’t use the site’s tools to spam, mislead, harass, or otherwise make the experience worse for other fans.
What You’re Agreeing To
By creating an account or contributing content, you agree to keep your participation respectful, constructive, and reasonably related to the Deadiverse community.
We’re not trying to police every disagreement or turn fan discussion into a courtroom. The Grateful Dead have inspired passionate opinions for decades, and disagreement is part of being a fan. The goal is simply to make sure disagreement doesn’t turn into cruelty, harassment, or disruption.
Be Kind
Don’t bully, harass, threaten, or pile on other members. No slurs, hate speech, or targeting people because of who they are.
You can disagree about eras, musicians, setlists, song interpretations, tribute bands, or whether a particular version of Dark Star is the greatest thing ever recorded. Just keep the disagreement about the music rather than attacking the person on the other side of it.
Examples of behavior that isn’t welcome:
- Attacking other fans for their musical tastes or concert history
- Personal attacks about someone’s appearance, identity, beliefs, or background
- Repeatedly provoking or harassing another member
- Threats or encouragement of violence
- Hateful or demeaning language directed at a person or group
- Spreading rumors or knowingly false information about musicians, bands, or community members
- Organizing harassment of musicians, bands, venues, or other fans
Respectful disagreement, thoughtful criticism, historical debate, and spirited discussion are all welcome.
Keep It Real, Not Spammy
Deadiverse is a community and archive, not a billboard.
Please don’t create fake accounts, manipulate statistics, repeatedly post promotional material, or use community features primarily to drive traffic somewhere else.
Please don’t:
- Create multiple accounts to artificially inflate engagement or manipulate statistics
- Spam the same message or link across multiple pages
- Use profiles or comments for relentless self-promotion
- Impersonate another member, musician, band, or Deadiverse administrator
- Post deliberately misleading information about shows, setlists, or musicians
- Use the site to operate a commercial ticket-resale or merchandise business
- Use the community primarily to solicit money, services, or unrelated business
Do contribute genuine information, stories, show memories, photographs, recordings, setlists, annotations, and thoughtful discussion about the music.
Keep Contributions Accurate
Deadiverse is an archive, so accuracy matters. If you’re submitting a setlist, show information, musician credit, venue detail, or historical fact, please make a reasonable effort to make sure it’s correct.
If you’re not certain, say so. A note such as “I believe this was played, but I’m not completely sure” is much more useful than presenting uncertain information as fact.
If you discover an error, please help us correct it. Conflicting sources and incomplete historical records are inevitable in an archive this large. The goal is to improve the information over time, not pretend that every entry was perfect from the beginning.
Photos, Recordings & Other Media
Fan-created photographs, recordings, videos, artwork, notes, and other documentation can be valuable parts of the historical record. You’re welcome to contribute material you created yourself or have permission to share.
Please don’t upload or submit material that you don’t have the right to distribute. Respect the copyrights and other rights of musicians, photographers, recording artists, venues, other fans, and other creators.
When in doubt, link to the original source rather than copying someone else’s work.
Fan Art, Annotations & Creative Work
Fan-created work is part of what makes a music community interesting. Song interpretations, historical research, annotations, artwork, essays, photographs, and other creative contributions are welcome.
Please make it clear when something is your own interpretation or fan-created material rather than presenting it as official information from the Grateful Dead or another artist.
Respect the Musicians
The Deadiverse covers real people, both living and deceased, whose lives and work are part of this history. It’s possible to discuss a musician’s playing, songwriting, decisions, performances, or public career without turning the discussion into a personal attack.
- Criticism of music and performances is fine.
- Historical discussion is encouraged.
- Rumors should not be presented as facts.
- Respect musicians’ personal lives and privacy.
- Don’t use Deadiverse to organize harassment or campaigns against musicians, bands, venues, or other fans.
The same standard applies to tribute bands and other musicians who are part of the wider Deadiverse. They’re part of the community too.
Reporting Problems
If you see something that violates these guidelines, please report it rather than escalating the situation yourself.
When reporting something, a short explanation of what the problem is and where it occurred is helpful. Reports allow the site administrators to review potentially abusive, misleading, or inappropriate content and take appropriate action.
You’re not “snitching.” You’re helping keep the fan community useful and welcoming.
What Happens When Guidelines Are Broken?
We try to be fair and reasonable, but participation in Deadiverse is not a right to disrupt the community. Depending on the situation, site administrators may:
- Remove or edit content
- Hide or restrict a profile
- Remove comments or contributions
- Restrict particular community features
- Suspend an account
- Delete an account
Serious or repeated violations may result in immediate loss of access. We may take action without advance notice when necessary to protect the site, its members, or the integrity of the archive.
We don’t guarantee that content or accounts removed for violations will be restored.
Behaviors That May Result in Removal
- Harassment or targeted attacks
- Threats or encouragement of violence
- Hate speech or discriminatory abuse
- Repeated spam or malicious promotion
- Impersonation or identity fraud
- Deliberate manipulation of site statistics or community features
- Repeatedly spreading false information after being corrected
- Copyright or intellectual-property violations
- Sexual or explicit content inappropriate for the site
- Sexual content involving minors or any sexualization of minors
- Off-topic disruption of community discussions
- Attempts to compromise, abuse, or interfere with the site’s security
Your Account Is Yours
Keep your account information secure and don’t give someone else access to your account. Don’t create accounts pretending to be another person or organization.
If you decide Deadiverse isn’t for you, you can delete your account from your account settings where that functionality is available. You can also contact us if you need help with your account or contributions.
A Few Good Rules
- Be kind. There are real people on the other side of the screen.
- Be accurate. This is an archive, so your contributions matter.
- Be curious. Ask questions and help newer fans discover the music.
- Be respectful. Disagreement about music is welcome; personal attacks aren’t.
- Be honest. Don’t manufacture history, statistics, identities, or experiences.
- Be a good Deadhead. Leave the place a little better than you found it.
