The group started as the house band for a Sunday Grateful Dead jam night at the Boulevard Cafe in Chicago. National Touring: It quickly evolved from a local jam session into a premier nationally touring act honoring the music of the Grateful Dead and the Jerry Garcia Band. Legendary Collaborations: Over the years, Terrapin Flyer built a strong reputation by touring and performing with key members of the Grateful Dead family. This includes long-term collaborations with keyboardist Vince Welnick, keyboardist Tom Constanten, and Hammond B3 organist Melvin Seals from the Jerry Garcia Band.
